this weekend i was riding in the snow with my son and sliced my tire on a buried culvert, it cut a 2" slice in the sidewall. I brought the tire to the local gas station where he put a tube in it. I was wondering if you guys think that will work or am i flirtin with trouble maybe even danger?

 

if you only use the quad in your yard..............the tube should be fine.......But I would not if the sidewall on the tire is swelled out in that cut spot.........Can you keep the same air pressure in both tires?
Or do you need more air in the tube side?.........What type of quad is it....Sport or UTE....Caper......
With the speed of a sport any little off-set in the balance will throw it off and shake like a son-of -a-gun...............Caper...........

 

u should be good to go just make sure that u have enought air in it when riding so that way when u ride ur not squishing the tube abd posibley sliceing it.....i have had a tube in mi moms p360 tire when we picked up a 3 inch pice of OLD railroad rail and had it in there for about a year with not problems....she bought ams swampfox tires what a set of rubber

 

I have repaired a 1" slice in a sidewall in my buddy's Honda. (Yes CAPER it was Ryan's) I patched it from the inside and then put a tube in it. It seemed to work ok and then he got rid of the tires about a month later so I don't know about long term. In my Scrambler I had to put tubes in both front tires. The rims were pretty well square and there was little slices in the tires all the way around. And the tubes held up for about a year when I got rid of it.

Hey awsume, you should replace the tire. A general rule of thumb is if the cut is in the sidewall of any tire you should replace it. Where atv tires are low pressure, this is much more important. You're likely to lose any patches that are in the inside due to flexing. Where you have an 800 and can get up to higher speeds it is very important that your tires hold up.

 

i have seen stubes in tires on a 700 sm....it held up for a year and a half of abuse.....snow ice fishing road runing any thing u could think of and the tube held up fine

 

take the tube out and put a simonized patch on the inside(hot patch) first and then reinstall and it will be fine. i put a couple of holes in both machines and patched them on the trail w/ tire plugs and good ol slime. love that green stuff.
