Default Scrambler bogged, help please

hey i just got my scrambler rebuilt so i've been riding close to home, mostly on roads and snowmobile trails. Anywho i was riding down the road and i spotted this massive puddle, i nailed the puddle and of course made a big splash, i got soaked, but just after i was through it the scrambler began to bog out. it didn't stall but i bogged. i hit water all the time and have never had it happen ever before. and that was the first puddle in a while. any help?

Default Scrambler bogged, help please

did any water get into the air box or did the electronics get wet and make it loose power like breaking down? i know a guy w/ a xplorer 400 that kinda did the same thing every time he got a little too deep in. i havent seen him yrs to ask if he ever got it figured out.

i dont think i got any water in the airbox, but i ride with the cover off so its a possibility, buy i normally ride through alot more with the lid off and i've never had a problem. The electrons are fine it wasn't that big of a puddle. What else could it be? it recovered right away it only bogged for a few seconds but it bogged! It didn't feel like it was dying just losing power.

Unless you have adjusted the jetting for the airbox lid being off, then some bogging could be expected. The fact that it happened only when you hit some water makes it most likely that you got some into the carb. If you are using the stock jetting with the lid off you are gonna be running a little lean. It may not hurt to richen it up alittle. Overtime it can cause the engine failure before its time to rebuild.

it is now running perfect, the plug is nice and brown. note the filter needs a good cleaning. it was running really rich before because my choke was stuck on apparently. its never bogged in water before, and it was just a small puddle. What electronics might cause the bogging, i think im gonna have to hit it again and see if it will do it again. What else could cause the bogging... ARGH

i ride with the lid off for the little extra performance, its a *K&N* filter that really, really needs to be cleaned. For the water in the clutch ...Nope i have the clutch exhaust snorkeled to under my seat, because i was having that problem before, it pouched my belt last year. Could it be hitting my plug wire and causeing power loss or ...?

Clean your K&N, and don't hit any big puddles with your airbox lid off. Water doesn't compress nearly as well as air in your cylinder.

so is that what you all think it is, water on the filter?n also the engine is freshly rebuilt..... i think im gonna go over the boot from the airbox to the carb and from the carb to the engine... I have gone mud bogging before with the bogging of the engine. thanks for the help...
and does having the lid off give more power or just make the bike louder.?.
