06 Hawkeye broken a-arm mount
My wife's hawkeye broke on the trail the other day. The frame mount that the rear lower a-arm mounts to broke and then her axle popped out of the final drive. Tore up the end of the axle spline and inner cv joint pretty good. Luckily we were able to get a truck in to get it out. Just wondering if anyone else has had any similar problems with any polaris machines. I dont know why they used such cheap thin metal for such an important, load bearing mount. It literally broke in half so I guess I will have to take it in to get a new one welded to the frame. The machine isnt even a year old but the warranty is up. any thoughts on a solution?? Thanks!

Try doing a SEARCH on the Polaris FORUM here on Hawkeye and see.....Others had problems with the welds also........I remember reading one long forum on here about the welds breaking.......They seem to be a major issue with the Hawkeye........I don't even know if Polaris had those frames built for them or not!!!!!!!...........Caper..........Hope that helps !!!!!.Sorry to here about that......

Thanks for the info caper, i did a search and found a lot of info on the weak a-arm mounts. I am going into the dealer tomorrow to find out about the subframe replacement. I really dont want to pay a lot of money for something that is obviously a design flaw. The machine isnt under warranty anymore so i'll see what they say. If its too much money i will get a welder friend to fab something up. Hopefully polaris will issue a recall for this safety issue.

Are you sure its not under warranty? When I got my 06 Hawkeye, it came with the 3 year warranty at no charge. I personally would not pay for the other items that broke due to the A arm defect. Polaris should cover it all, since they have issued a replacement, that is only replacable when it breaks.
