Default front hub won't disengage

Hi,
I could use a little help diagnosing a problem with my 03 600, here's the symptoms.

I cant turn the AWD off, it stays enageged all the time. ( if I put it up on jacks and spin the rear tires with the ignition off it moves the front tires( if I move the rear tire's slowly it won't move the fronts but it will if I spin them faster) , but will not engage in reverse even with the ignition on and botton pushed) It seems to be a mechanical problem not an electrical one seeing as it behaves the same no matter weather the ignition is on or off.

I think it might of been damaged plowing, any idea's??

hopefully im wrong but i looked it up and you have the roller in the front end(new style where it locks not in the hubs) and alot of people are breaking them and causing them to stay engauged. its just a guess if its not electrical.

Try changing the oil in the front diff, it takes the polaris hub drive fluid. If that doesnt work you probably damaged the cage in the front diff.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to pull the front diff and take a peek at the cage, although I seemed to have reached an impass with the lower ball joint on the front suspension....... that sucker does NOT want to come off.....

Well coming from a sp600 owner that is on his 3rd front diff I can tell you with out a doubt you broke the rollar cage in the front diff. Another one bites the dust!

Fragile! They are made of plastic. Just make sure everything is clean before you put it back together. The cage is about $200 and the rollar kit is another 75. Thats if nothing else is wrong like the armiture plate. Thats another 65.

You can usually hit the swingarm with a hammer in the area where the balljoint goes through. If that dont work then you need a pickle fork. The hammer should work. Its not in that tight.

I would say if its an 03 and you just now broke something then you are doing good.
