The most dangerous I have seen is black bears at the dump in Greenville, Maine when I was up camping on Moosehead Lake. Once, I had a garter snake that almost gave me a heart attack. I was walking along a thin trail in the fall one year and I heard a rattling sound. I froze and looked down. It was a garter snake whipping its tail back and forth in the dry leaves. I almost killed it in spite. Another time, I was bird hunting with a shotgun and a huge snake was swimming across a pond. I could see a club shaped head so I shot... Don't know what it was. It sank. I think the thing to watch out for riding quads or driving in the Northeast is moose and deer, and, of course, other riders. I've had a couple close calls driving my truck. One was a Moose when I was driving South towards Greenville, Maine and came up over a corner doing 50 on a logging highway. Cow moose with two calves. Barely had time to stop. Another was a deer that wasn't too close.
