Default Wiseco?...Why not?

I am wondering if there would be any gains if i put a standard bore wiseco piston in my 04 scrambler 500 or would i just be waisting $$$$

How much is it? I really don't think there would be any type of perf gain. It maybe lighter but the compression would be the same. Maybe someone else would have a different opinion.

Usually........you go with a bit higher compression or bore. It is probably ligher(maybe, wiseco's are heavy). But mainly, you are replacing the stock(junk) piston....with a good quality one. My guess is, basically no performance increase. Also, I've heard(not sure if true)......that those wiseco's off ebay aren't good pistons.....like you would buy from Wiseco(I've heard they are rejects.....yet still will run). Not sure.

the weisco will be a lighter piston it should give better throttle responce. If you are gonna add a pipe later on this would be good, it will also increase reliability

I already have a pipe from hot seat but looking into a white bros are there any other pistons i should consider? Wiseco is the only name I ever heard of on this forum.....

I think there are easier and cheaper ways to get performance other that a piston swap. Have you looked into clutching, jetting, and you mentioned piping it already. I don't think I'd be tearing into the engine unless I was going to be putting cams and a higher compression piston in it. A good clutch kit will make it feel a lot faster.

Yes todd i just ordered clutching from HPD. The more i think about it the more i doubt doing it. Maybe i will just keep it as is and wiat till i am ready to over bore and cam it........thanx guys

I'm not too crazy about big bores. If I pulled my cylinder off and there was no marks in it, I would just hone it and slap a new piston and rings. The performance gain from a 0.020" bigger piston would be minimal, but higher compression is where you'll see a difference. Just be sure to run high test in it!!
