rear mounted winch
#1
so my quest for a new winch continues since I got screwed on EBAY. Now I am looking to the possibility of rear mounting one. I know I still need that same winch but before I get one I want to find out if you can rear mount it. If I just bought a winch, I would put it on the front and be done but.................Has anyone come up with a rear mount that goes where the tool box is? One for someone that cant cut or weld heavy metal? I am looking for a premade mount that is safe and secure. Anybody know of one or can anyone make one and sell it to me? THe 3 times that I did get stuck and needed winching, we had to get it out from the direction it went in, so it makes serious sense to have it in the back instead of the front. Plus it wouldnt put the extra weight on the front.
I dont mind losing the toolbox if I can get one that works!

Did you ever think about using the hitch for a re-movable rear winch!!!!!
You could even use the same 4-post contactor and switch!!!!
Or just buy a small cheap one weld it on a 18 inch long square tubing and put a bolt through to hold it
in the hitch
The only downfall is that when your stuck.........Your hitch reciever will more than likey be under water!!!!
Do you get stuck with your 450 SP.........Not to be big-headed here but my wife or I never did yet!!!!
And that's not lack of trying.......We go where everybody else goes!!!!!...Caper.........
I sure hope Scrammy doesn't read this...LOL...LOL.....Yes AWD...Helps more than a Winch!!!!!!!

yeh I thought about the hitch but just like you said - its too low. Plus I want to be able to use the hitch for other stuff without having to mess with it. The tool box area would be perfect. Up and out of the way until you need it.
Yeh....I did get my 450 stuck 3 times. Out riding very snowey trails through the woods and hit a swamp hole. Couldnt even see it comin LOL. Then 2 more times......yeh.....Iam an idiot. THere was really nothing, I think, that anyone could have done with any machine without getting out of that first hole! But I am sure I will get some good feedback from THAT statement!
The front will be fine but I figure if I can find a rear mount, that would be ideal

Warn does make a multi mount for the rear. You don't loose the box and you could always have the option of moving it around or leaving it at the back. The winch will stick out a way at the back so I decided to make my own permanent mount. I don't have it on just yet to show you. Baby?s coming and it's harder to get into the garage...

Sorry CAPER, yes I read the post. I was biting my tongue but I can't help myself. MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN AWD IN THE MUDHOLE. LOL That will keep the winch use to a minimum LOL And if you want to get stuck I know just the places to take you. Leave the wife and kids at home and I'll make sure your winch gets broken in right LOL The last ride I was stuck in 2 spots. I can't wait untill the ice is gone so the GOOD holes open up. Better bring your hip waders LOL
