1997 sportsman 500 intake

Default 1997 sportsman 500 intake

i have a 97 sportsman 500 does anyone know if i can convert and put an airbox and carb from a 2000 sportsman 500 and if so how do the airboxes fit are they the same or is there modification that needs to be done

if anyoune could help it would be much appreciated i have a trip coming up and my stock air box is junk not a good design ifyou know what i mean it is all deformed and i don't even know if it seals up anymore i want to replace the carb too the one on the machine is getting to the point it needs a new slide and diaphram i think

i was hoping that someone could help me with this issue i have checked past threads and came up with nothing but if there is a thread that this issue was discussed could someone tell me were to find it

Default 1997 sportsman 500 intake

Go through this info Sportsman 500 parts by year.

The carbs on a 97 and 2000 are the same 34mm - CV Mikunis. The airboxs look different though but since the 97 and 2000 have the same frame & motor they may swap.

thanks TLC for replying to my question i have done some research on my own and i think all i have to do with the air box is relocate the mounting i wonder if you know if the fact the my airbox is all deformed and is leaking air if it would be a a couse for a hesitation on exceleration or if i am barking up the wrong tree i have already foun that my spark plug boot was bad it did not have any continuity through it so i replaced it and the wire if you or anyone else has an answer please feel free to help i would appreciae it
