no, i am not saying it is dangerous. A rev limiter won't help unless you set it at 3100 rpms which would suck. What i am saying is don't jam it into awd at any speed over 12 mph. use your head and you'll be fine. if you slow down to a creep to put it in, you'll be fine. If you go into a hole that you know you'll need awd, go ahead and engage before you go. that way you won't have the back tires spinning 25 mph and engage awd and tear up the front end. I drive my machine hard and have been using this mod for 6 months and had no problems

alright thanks .. thats all i ever done to my bike with the speedo or not i always creep along and put it into awd or even that much stop riding and do it . i always think to my mind that the riv limiter might brake and cause alot of trouble in the front end.
would a voltage regualtor cause my battery to go dead everytime i got out and start the bike? even tho i baught this universal bike battery for $40 ha ha

Why not just put a new speedo in it ? you start out with the speedo not working so you cross the wires . Then something else goes wrong and again you fix that with some other improper solution . Before you know it your driving around on a bike with no speedo and is held together with twist ties and elastic bands . Myself I want my bike to be mint with everything working 100% of the time .

the reason why i am not buying a speedo is cause i cant afford it right at this moment and i have a baby comminh into my life(i am 24) .. trying to buy some stuff and getting everything ready for her to come home. eventually i will end up and buy one.. right now as we speek i need a new paularis battary, 4 tie rod ends, oil change, front brakes and maby a voltage regular. i never kept up on the quad in matance and next thing you know everything needs to be replaced. eventually my bike will end up being 100% fixed

Your doing the right thing as family ALWAYS comes first . But ya once you have a little extra its good to fix things up properly I've seen too many things taped and tied together and in some cases there not safe . I like knowing when I'm riding that my machine is in perfect working order and that I'm the one that's keeping it that way . I guess you can say Pride Of Ownership .

I tried to bypass the speedometer and it does not seem to work. I know longer have the speedometer plug in. Do I need the speedometer for this bypass to work. I grounded the white/brown wire from the 6 prong connector.

I must comment on this. My speedometer was destroyed in a bad accident I had. It is gone. The plug was just laying there. I grounded the brown/white wire to the frame and I have awd again. My atv is a 2002 sportsman 400. It had the digital speedo. Functions just as it should. Just dont engage it at any high rpm or speed. I was getting no awd light before hand either. Still have to push overide to get awd in reverse. So for those out there with this problem. You do not need a speedometer plugged into the harness to get awd back!
