Default Dead Traiblazer Update. I'm Lost! Help!

I got the Tb back into my garage. Wahooo! This afternoon I tore it down. Pulled everything off. My goal was the find a busted up piston and that would be the problem. Well, the piston looks good and the walls are perfect! The only thing that looked amiss on the piston was the top. Looked like there might have been some black paint or something that was peeling. It smelled like gas. The piston moved as it should. It was wet in there. Seemes like something was leaking through the exhaust port into the head pipe?!?!? So, what should i continue to look for in the head? Also, what could be some more problems? I couldn't find the crankshaft drain, so I'll try to do that tonight. The fun continues!

I took the exhaust off and found about a gallon plus of water in there. Gravity has kept it down in the headpipe. I have a feeling this might be the problem. I guess the TB isn't a submarine after all.

hahaha, the soap continues... well the water in the pipe would definitely make it so it wouldnt run. they dont like to run if the exhaust cant go anywhere. i would say take of the pipe and dry everything out real good. leave it how it is and sit it for a day... then come put it back together, clean it up a little and then try to run it. you might want to clean EVERYTHING if you have the time. clean it up the best you can and try to get it running. hope that you get it fixed soon. too bad you missed the only good weather we'v had for the past month

Here's another good one. I was putting the cylinder head back on and then the spark plug back in. It seems like a stripped the spark plug hole on the head! I don't know how I did it, but it's screwed up. Should I try to re-thread it with one of thos ehelicoil tools or should I just get a new head. There is one on Ebay for $75.

Try the helicoil first then order the new head if needed.

Default Dead Traiblazer Update. I'm Lost! Help!

Well, the soap opera is about to reach an ending. I got it running tonight! It must have been that water. Whoops! It actually ran really good. Just pressed the button and it fired. I ran it for about 15 minutes. Started and stopped it a few times and it worked. I do have a few concerns. The headpipe was smoking really bad. I would assume that it was just excess water burning off. There is no way for oil to puddle down there, right? The water that came out was just a little brackish and smelled of gas. I just don't want a fire. Speaking of fire, it seemed to be running a little warm. Is there a simple way to check if the oil injection is working without pulling the tank? Finally, how do I know where to adjust the idle screw. I know it's around 800 RPMs, but what does that equate to in turns? I have it to the point where it idles good, I just want to make sure that it is where it should be. As for the head, I think that I'll just buy the new (used) one and a new spark plug just to be safe. Seeing that I saved my ATV from certain death I guess I can afford to dump another $78 into her! Well, those are the all the questions I have for now. I'm sure I'll have more when I put it all back together when the head comes. Thanks again. Everyone on here is great!

wow, what a saga. lol. as long as the engine idles fine and doesnt slam into gear or take or on ya a little high or low wont hurt anything. i hope you made sure none of the filing from the bad spark plug hole went in to the cyclinder. as long as the rings are right on the piston there shouldnt be any gas wash thru.

Nope, none of the shavings made it into the head. I put the plug into the cylinder head while it was off of the engine. I started the spark plug with the wrench instead of doing it finger tight first. That is probably why it stripped.

Yeah I certainly hope you didn't let that metal fall into your cylinder. You did install a new head gasket as well right?

Too bad everything wasn't as easy to work on as a two-stroke engine. Glad to hear the good news!
