98 sportsman NO BRAKES!!
#11
Well I took it apart, and found the outer rubber dust sheild was kinked, and shoved in along side the piston. I couldnt get it out, so I took the brake line off the other end, and used a nail to shove the piston out. The thing seems to work fine now, and the rubber doesnt seem to be damaged. Should I just try and put it back on and use it, or rebuild it?

If it's apart you might as well rebuild it. BTW my buddy replaced his whole hand brake assy. and he had to take it in to polaris to bleed the system. They apparently pressure up the lines somehow so its unlikely that if you've pulled the lines off that you can just "put it back"

the service manual says to bleed them like normall. I hope I dont have to take it in, because they said they were to busy to work on it for a while. I will take the master cylinder over there tomorrow, and try and talk to them about it.

you can get the piston out with compressed air, take air and run it through the brake line and hold like a 17 mm wrench over the outside of the cylinder and a put a rag over the wrench and you can blow it out of the cylinder. just a trick they teach us at school
