Adding Additional Lighting
#1
My TB is still all torn apart waiting for parts, so now I'm bored. I've been thinking of adding extra lights up front and figured now is the best time to do it while everything is stripped down. I've just been thinking of putting a set of those cheap Wally World driving lights on. Where should I mount them? I have a DG bumper that they could be mounted on, but I want to find a place like maybe up by the stock light near the handlebars. Also, how can I tie them it to the exlectrical system? Just splice them into the existing light or run them on a seperate switch? I don't know if the stock system could hold the extra load. I love to ride at night, so this upgrade is a no brainer for me.

You need to check out your output watts!!!....Can't help you there..........Sorry......I would install a second switch for them so they can be turned off if needed......Caper...........

Yeah I'm really worried about the stator. I was thinking of just having two 35 watts or a single 55 watt, but I might just keep it stock after all. The last thing I want to do is drain the battery in the woods at night.

Yea, I even wondered if I could upgrade just my bulb watts up? How much
would my Sportsman 450 take up to? And how much would those bulbs
costs? Any risk of running down the battery? I would think if it is running
its not draining?

With enough load it will still drain down with the bike running. You need to know the output of the charging system and the load of your extra bulbs PLUS the existing loads on the bike (headlights, taillights, ignition, etc.)

I agree with Scrammytodd. When we had our '94 Polaris 400L Sport, I put two billet type lights (IIRC they were 35 watts each) on it for extra lighting. I didn't think it would draw much more current than what the bike would generate while it was ridden. I was wrong after about 45 minutes of riding, it would drain the battery down and this was without the quad's stock headlight on. When I ran just the stock light everything was fine. I removed the lights and continued using the stock light without any problems.

Thanks for all the opinions guys. I think I'm going to keep it stock for now. I don't want to give it another excuse to break down. I'm just bored lol. My needed parts were shipped today, so hopefully they will get here before the middle of next week and I can have it up and running for the weekend.
