Predator 500 raceing tips?
Hi all,
I have a 2003 predator 500 witch has the TLD package with a pure Polaris pipe and I can not seam to launch this quad. The problem is I have a friend with a raptor 660(stock) and another friend with a k&n,pipe,jetted and no lid 400 EX and they beat me by 1 to 1/12 quads in the 300 foot. Any further and I will pull them down and win. I have tried launching every way and I have brand new tires on the quad and they both have bald tires and I still can not out launch them. The tires just seam to keep spinning through every gear. We are racing on a loosely packed dirt road. I have been riding since I was 5 yrs old so I am by no means a bad rider just I hear people saying Pred's can smoke the 450 in 300 foot and I cant smoke a 400? Also I know jetting is spot on and the quad seams to run great as far as I can tell. Could some one tell me stock sprocket size? That might be it.
I need some tips on how to launch this thing to win some races!! Thanks, Rob

so your tires are spinning un-controllably when you try to holeshot and drag? sounds like you may be dropping the clutch too quickly... since you have the TLD gearbox, i would try starting in second gear, rev it up a little and just go for it, its a little steeper, but first and second are so close on the TLD that you shouldent have any problem. i would just try and practice different ways that have to do with your take off and see if you can find your sweet spot
