is my primary done?

I got a 04 500 sp, it seems like it is slipping when you first take off for a ride. After things get warmed up it seems better. I took the cover off the other day and if you grab the end of the primary you can move it around a fair bit it also has some ware at the very bottom of the pulley part of the clutch. Is it time for a new clutch or could it just be my belt. The bike only was 2900 miles,is this all the clutches last. Shold i be looking at a new secondary also?

I really don't know but it sounds that it may be in the belt. B/c of the belt drive, the polaris won't shoot off the line like some bikes, but it shouldn't lag badly. The belt tension may be off or the belt may need to be replaced. Good luck

I think you can just replace the bushings, I did in my secondary and it really helped out alot. Only cost like $30.00 for the two secondary bushings. (not the buttons or ramps like some may suggest) My sheaves,k ramps, and buttons were still good. Replaced at 4000 miles on a 02 700.

what do you mean the end of the prim. clutch moves around?? its bolted directly to the crank so it shouldnt move at all in a up or down or side to side motion. if you can move it in any direction something is wrong.
