700 EFI Ciutch Advise Sought
Our 04.5 700 EFI was purchased on vacation in Richfield UT. The clutch had the weights changed by the dealer for their location. It takes forever to engage and simple does not work well for our near sea level to 5000' use. After our last weekend it is seems damaged. While riding the need came to go over logs, instead of shifting to low range, the rider set on the logs and gunned it, the bike didn't move. Finally got there attention and had them to shift into low and told them they were burning the belt. The response: Yes, I can smell it. Now it really takes forever to engage. Suspect sever belt damage. Doubt if the belt would last another riding weekend. While I'm into it I would like to change the clutch so it engages earlier. What is the best way to do this based on personnel experiences.
1. Install a clutch assembly from an 800EFI?
2. Rebuild the 700 clutch and replace the weight with the normal stock ones?
3. Use an after-market kit?
4. Other.........?
Thanks for your help.

putting an 800 clutch would be a big improvement. if it doesnt not have a roller secondary you could put one on to match. pm sportsman70003 and ask him the weight set up and he'll help you out im sure. if you dont want to spend that much money just replace to stock weights and springs w/ a new belt.
