Default Headlight replacement

I've got a headlight out on my 2004 500 sportsman (rectangular) are these a dealer item or available in stores like Walmart or an auto store?

I've been waiting to ask this question too, can you up the wattage
by replacing with a brighter bulb? Or will that draw too much from
the system battery?

Thx,

In my Service Manual.........The Alt. output for the SP 450 is 260 watts @ 3000 RPM
For the Sp 500 the Alt. output is 240 watts @ 3000 RPM...........
Lights are the same.......High beam......50 watts..(not 55)
.................................Low beam.......37 watts
.................................brake...........2 6.9 watts
.................................tail............. .8.26 watts
................................Worklights........ 12 watts
Note....Do "{NOT}" touch the lamp with bare fingers. Hold the plastic part . Oil from your fingers or skin leaves a residue, causing a HOT spot that will shorten the life of the lamp......Caper........

Yea, I think I know Caper,
they need to do something to make
the 500 more attractive over our 450's, LOL.

Just returned from the auto store they had an aisle full of bulbs, none even came close, the housing diamater is large and the socket size is smaller than auto type.It looks like a dealer item.

Opps, okay okay I do miss
a few here and there. Yea, you
would think the 500 should put out
more, hmmm. (Stendor, thought
you were riding today?)

Don't know but maybe check out first some parts
sites like denniskirk.com Vs dealer. I bought
some of those plastic plugs for holding the
plastic body parts together as I have bent
some up, the dealer charged me a dollar each,
bought 10 ea. Found out later denniskirk had
pack of 10 for $4.99. just those kinds of things.
Check it out and I would be interested too.

Cheers,
