Default CV Boot

Can someone tell me how hard it is to change a right rear inside CV Boot on a Sportsman 500? I have had it changed already once about 3-4 months ago, but I noticed it has 2 holes in it AGAIN!!! I really don't want to take it somewhere if I don't have to. I just don't know if there is a special tool for those clamps/bands they have on them. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I have changed a couple on my bikes and it is not that hard, just time consuming. Save yourself some headaches and missing skin off your hands and buy yourself a pair of CV boot pliers, about 14$. read up in your bike service manual and it has step by step pictures and instructions. if you don't have a book yet, buy one, you obviously want to start working on your bike so this should be the first thing you purchace. good luck, and don't worry, this won't be the last boot you will replace, lol

the hardest thing is putting the boot back on if you get grease on the rings that the boot slides on the grooves with. make sure its clean of grease when you put it on. no real special tools needed. if you get stuck just give a hollar and we'll help ya out.

thanks for the reply's. I just ended up taking back to where it was put on last time. The quad only has 300 miles on it and I have already gone through 2 boots. Both boots were the same one too. Hopefully he will prelace it for free. If not it is only $40 for him to do it and then I don;t have to mess with it. Any ideas as to why it would keep tearing?? I haven't done any riding through any real brushy stuff. Could something be wrong with the axle to make it keep doing that?
