Default HELP WITH ENGINE SOUND????

dont know but does it sound like valves being loose, or maybe cam chain loose. does it get louder when reved up or when its idling low. maybe these answers will help some one who has one give you a better answer. good luck.

Default HELP WITH ENGINE SOUND????

i just got done redoing a trans and engine on a 03 predator 500 and it normaly has a slight sound to the engine and could say it was a slight knock that comes from the cam chain guide moving with the chain. but i would check the valve adjustment first to make sure it is not that. one way you can tell is put the blade of a plastic hadle screwdrive on the engine and see if you can tell where its coming from. also keep in mind that is the first your for the predator and so have problems i know off hand cause my buddy has had a few and have heard of other people having them to. but dont get me wrong people it's a good bike.

i dont know that there is anything you can do about the noise
the thing is you just need to take care of them and maintain them and dont bet the s#@t out of them. plus most likely the guy the had it before you got the bugs out

yea it does sound like it would be the cam chain. the lower it idles the louder it gets. some engines you can adjust them but i dont know if you can that one or not. maybe a guy w/ a service manual or ask a dealer if it can be done.
