polaris 400 - no fire
#1
I recently purchased a sand buggy with a Polaris 400 engine - things were working fine we were riding in knee high wet grass then it cut out and died - I have checked the fuel and it is flowing fine - I have tried starting fluid and nothing - cleaned the air filter, nothing - checked every fuse, nothing - changed the spark plug, plug wire and coil and nothing... it turns over but just no spark - where would be the next best place to start looking??

does that thing have any type of kill switch that maybe is grounding it out.most wheelers have one. if it has no fire and tthere is no dead short shutting it off by grounding it out, then its either the cdi or the stator.

I have not found a kill switch on it - it does act like a diesel engine with the kill switch on.... but I do not think there is one - I will check the cdi and stator - my guess will be the stator since it is lower to the ground and the grass was wet... I have another Polaris that I can pull the cdi off and put it on this one to test it out - thanks for the response
