can an 800 starter be rebuilt is it cost effective

if you take it to a repair shop that does electric motors might be able too and give you an idear on how much. it would depend on whats gone on it. if its just the brushed then it wouldnt be too much i wouldnt think but hards to say. good luck.

i had a 2000 trailblazer rebuilt at a shop. cost 85$ and is still working fine today. i have seen kits on ebay and if you can get it off and tore down i do not think it would be to hard. i think it is a matter of changing the brushes and cleaning everything else up. good luck.

Its very easy to do, getting it out might be the hardest part. A set of brushes and new orings is normally all you need for $60 or so. If water has been an issue than more parts may be needed and a new starter may be the way to go.

i would take it out and apart so you can see whats going w/ it and go from there. like it has been said it might be an easy fix but you never know.
