Well I think it's for hauling extra weight, or driving two-up with a extra rider. Have you seen the way some of the IRS sink with two people on them!!!!!!............Caper........

Just looking at the picture, I don't think that would last very long on the trails around here. There are a lot of rock and roots that would tear it apart. Might even be dangerous if something were to hook it and stop the quad, possibly throwing you off. It looks to me like it hangs down pretty far below the skid plate. I like the idea though if you are just hauling heavy loads, or trailers, around the yard.

It is a sway-bar. It doesn't necessarily need to be mounted under the frame it can be mounted above the frame if there is room (which there should be). It has nothing to do with carrying extra weight. As one spring compresses it will try to compress the one on the opposite side also, and use the weight of that wheel to stop some roll and tipping. It is more for handling and having IRS be closer to SRA in functionality. It will take come articulation away.

there is a weight limit on quads. ive seen some couples on the wheeler that would be 600 lbs. + and the supension still on the lowest setting for shocks. myself i still beleave there is no better ride then the irs and wouldnt never go back to straight axle.

yeh - its a sway bar - polaris has them all ready on them on the back - they stiffen the ride during cornering - like sway bars on a car

You don't need a sway bar if you have a good suspension system and set it up properly, with correct tire pressures and preload settings. It is all about weight transfer and a sway bar is nothing more than a short cut for a poorly equipped suspension system. And in most cases it takes more benefits away than it adds.
One of the best Utility machines in the corners is a Suzuki Eiger (SRA). I have seen an IRS keep up and actually pass an Eiger in the corner. (but the IRS was setup properly too - both were 400 engines - so it was't the engine overpowering the Eiger).

To get proper downforce for different implements that Kolpin makes it requires that you lock the rear suspension of the ATV to keep it from moving. It's called dirtworks or some such. A complicated and expensive 3 point system with electrical lifts and actuators suspension locks.
