The good or bad about the big bores is once you ride them, the grin can be hard to remove. I loved my 500, plenty power, did all that was necessary. Went to look and wound up trading, in part to great deal. Like Moosehenden said, you are responsible. Make your kids responsible, accountable. I love the power of the 800 (760). Don't need it, but sure fun to pour it on where allowed. I thought that the 96' (correct me?)Sportsman was pretty revolutionary with IRS and AWD. Think companies have been and some still are playing catch up in a lot of ways. All machines have good and bad points. Ride what fits you best and be happy with it. Don't need to push it on others.

buckaroo50- I thought the Polaris' were the heaviest? I ride with a buddy with the same machine as yours, yr or two newer. The only obstacle he "came out on top" of was coming out of a clay mud pit, up hill and rutted. I did not have the ground clearance he did. We both scaped bad, but after 6 or 7 attempts, he made it and I didn't. I thought maybe the extra weight of Sportsman factored in as well. Yeah he rubbed it in, all in good fun. I have watched him back down a few rocky, root-strewn hill climbs from the top, to take another angle. He likes his machine as do I. Although he's looking to trade for something that rides smoother. He is pretty beat up after a day's ride and has said if he's going to keep riding the trails we do, needs to get something that rides like mine. Great travel but stiff. He is looking for softer springs, and I put stiffer on front of mine, too soft and boat-like for me. Again, they all have good and bad points, and I don't think one does everything better than all the rest. JMHO.

I agree, however, big-bore is only encouraging a bad condition to get worse. Drive responsibly and safely or the trails we now have may not be available. And who is going to be mostly attracted to big-bore? Could it possibly be the personality type such as an adventurist, thrill seeker, speedster, daring, macho, bold, 'bad boy', 'big dog', 'king of the hill' - and are these personalities conducive to responsibility and safety? A gun by itself can't kill but put it in the wrong hands and watch out. The factories are just as irresponsible as anyone for us loosing trails by making these machines available and attracting certain personalities and in a sense 'putting the gun in the wrong hands'...

Not to say that some responsible and safe drivers my buy them but for the most part they will be purchased by the above mentioned personality types.</end quote></div>

I have to say I disagree strongly. I don't think you really thought through what you said before you said it.

You're saying, by that right, that a gun manufacturer is responsible for someone going out and killing people?

Well it comes down to this..............PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE MONEY(LOTS).....will buy this large cc quads.................No question about it!!!!....I seen it happen with snowmobiles they go out and buy the biggest and fastest BUT never rode one before......In my point of view here........People should work they way up and get some seat time in BEFORE the buy one that they can't handle right away!!!!!

As for the large cc quad ......If they out there to buy ...People WILL buy them!!!!!!

The dealer is not going to ask if this quad is too big for you!!!!..ARE THEY???.Maybe you should buy this $4000.00 one instead!!!!!..We will make less money off the sale, but you will be safer riding it!!!!????
.....................Caper........................ ..That's all I started to say here.......
