It gets me outdoors now, more physical activity,SUN, breathing cleaner (well at least
not House air) air! I too alway think about our next trip out. I also like the challenge
on upgrades, installs, and minor repairs. Its fun working on the quad too, learning
the mechanics of it all. Another delight is this forum, where when I am not riding, I AM
READING and learning so much about these machines. Issues, problems, characteristics,
tips, and experiences from others.

That reminds me, Big Pappa, about the time a friend rented an industrial strength wood chipper to clear brush from trees we had cut down. He had it in a field and had brought it down a 30 degree slope and backed it in with his 4x4 truck. We chipped branches until dark and the dew started coming down. He tried to pull it up the hill with his truck and couldn't do it. (He has open diffs. on his truck) We unhitched the chipper which weighed somewhere around 2500 lbs. and put it on my X2. I put it in 4wd low and gunned it. Got out of the field and up the hill to his road/driveway. Would I do this for long stretches of time. No. Can the quad pull huge loads. YES! It's amazing what these machines can do.

I just picked up my Polaris Outlaw 525 saturday. Since most of the stories are about 4x4's I thought I would throw in the new polaris venture: extreme sport. I have ridden for a long time. This is my first polaris. I have ridden or owned 300ex, z400, trx450r, YFZ450, DS650, Can-Am 650, KFX700, Raptor 700, Banshee, and a 660 grizzly. This is the best racing quad I have been on. I did a bunch or research before I bought it since it costs to much. That KTM engine is incredible. And I know KTM isnt polaris, but the suspension is equally awesome. Its so smooth. All my friends have racing quads and they all tried to talk me out of a polaris because of the IRS on a racing quad. But guess who is laughing now? They all love it. It hooks up so well in corners I have yet to lose a race to ANY of the above quads. While they slide, I accelerate. I could not be happier with my choice. I beat them off the line and they never see anything but tail lights the rest of the race since I have them on top speed too. Im not a fanboy, I drive whats fast, and this outlaw is. Its put together really well. Everything has a grease fitting, even the steering shaft. Everyone elses you just have to replace it when it wears out. They obviously thought ahead on that one to longevity. You put a motor in a quad that last 20 years, you better build the bike to last that long too, and from what I see they did. So to everyone that says Polaris is crap, meet me at silver lake, and you can get a look at craps tail light.

I use a 2006 Hawkeye 4wd to maintain and build trails in a tropical rain forest riding park. We use quads to knock down 4 foot high tangled ferns and small brush on new trails. The stuff is so thick and tangled that you can't see the ground and we often come to downed logs that we crawl over. My riding buddy has a Grizzly 660 and we trade off taking the lead. We both have winches and use them often. We carry chain saws to cut the stuff we can't bust through. Elevation is 2,500 feet and temperaturs are usually in the low 80s. Speeds are usually a crawl. I have been doing this with the Hawkeye for over a year and the biggest failure I have had is popping the fender plastic loose on one side. I have a Dynojet jetting kit, K & N air filter, auxillery oil cooler, and the usual rack boxes. I can't imagine much more severe service and most of the other quads have more problems than mine. This is my first quad and I bought it to be a trail workhorse. Maybe I just don't know any better but I think it is a great machine.

Rode 103 miles last Friday and 97 last Saturday on hills, in rivers, and a little mud. Two 500's and not one problem. Mine is a 2007 SP500 EFI Delux bought last December. I have 1300 miles on it. Only problem so far is one bad rear CV joint. My fault for riding it with a torn boot. I have owned 3 Kawis in the past and all three had problems before hitting 1000 miles. So I really enjoy having a machine that is running trouble free. PoPo rules.

All right, thats what I'm talkin about, Share the good along with the bad , that way when non Polaris owners visit the site they can see that Polaris does have the best ride( I can say this because I have broken my back, lost 3 vertabrae and have 3 more fused togather, have ridden most atvs out there and can ride my Sportsman all day and almost forget I have a bad back) and is as dependable as the owner wants to make it, take care of it and it will take care of you and everyone else thats riding with you,HA HA ... Thanks for the replys....

J-MIL#12, good choice. They are insane fast. Hard to hold onto. Very smooth. During break-in, it just gets faster and faster it seems every time you sit on it. Its faster than everything stock. all the way up to the 800 renegade.
