i bought a seal kit for my cyclone i beleave the engines are similar for a few models any ways one of the seals is metal with a rubber seal were it meets the crank the other is basically all rubber or plastic or whatever but my question is which one goes on which side does it matter any suggestions i now they have the same part numbers but they do not look alike

Metal seal on the stator side. Rubber seal on the clutch side. At one time both seals were metal faced. Then they swapped back and forth over the years changing seal types on different 250 engines although the cases were the same.

thanks...another question i have is this from the research i have done the cyclone did not come with electric start how ever the bike i have has electric start on it there is no button for it but there is so much stuff missing who knows what was originally on it i looked at the numbers on the engine by the clutch they start with 02 which from what i researched is a cyclone engine so have you ever heard of anyone adding a starter to these bikes it does have the dual shocks and its also missing the battery box so im guessing someone added it or someone took parts from it

Guess someone added a starter and either gave up or stole parts off it.The Cyclone engine was designated EC25PF-02 as you mentioned. It showed to have 30 hp @7000 rpms where all the other models of the 250 showed to have 22 hp.
The Cyclone just had a block off plate and gasket where the starter went on the other models.Items #17,18.

well sad news if im correct and i now i am the numbers on the motor are ec25pf-01 which means its not a cyclone motor but im positive its a cyclone frame because it has the dual rear shocks. any idea what the differences between the cyclone motor and trailboss/trailblazer motor was that gave it 30hp instead of just 22hp it has the cyclone exhaust on it and i bought a new mikuni 38mm carb for it any way to get it up to the same hp as cyclone

Sounded kinda fishy when you mentioned the starter. Mainly the exhaust, carb and the clutch set up was what made the difference. Only rode one or two at the shop and clutches didn't engage until about 4000 rpms then they would launch, most times with the front wheels off the ground. Imo they weren't practical for most riders. Guess that's why they were only made for one year.

yea im guessing someone blew the old motor and ether had one of these sitting around or got it for cheap and threw it on it but what ever still gunna be a decent little quad for my chick anyways doubt she wants anything thats gunna kill her anyways...however im pretty sure the clutch carb and exhaust are from the cyclone so who knows maybe its still gunna be poppy i could only hope im getting a bunch of parts today for it so hopefully if the crank seals fix the running issue i can take it around the yard today

Over ride switch just allows full power in reverse. If mine I'd find the limiter module and pull the black wire to defeat this so you wouldn't have to mess with the over ride. Should be tucked under the tank area close to the cdi module. As far as the brake light on this old cable operated brake system,I believe there's a pressure switch on the rear caliper that completes the circuit. Don't hold me to it though,it's been too long and I only worked with a couple of them. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
