00 Xplorer 400 Won't Idle
#1
I am working on a 400 Polaris for a Friend and these Forums are always a Huge Help.
It will not idle I rebuilt the carb using one of these Moose Rebuild kits and the same thing, there is a electric switch up on the handlebar connected to the thumb throttle what is that for ? and could that be the problem?

did you remove and clean the pilot jet ?it controls idle.
oh and the switch on the throttle is incase the throttle cable breaks it kills the motor. cable misadjustment will cause that switch to function too but i bet its the pilot jet

there should be about 1/8" play in the throtle so the overide will work corrctly w/out killing the engine. when you rebuilt the carb, did you make sure to clean all passages out w/ cleaner and compresed air? is the idle and throttle slide set right? just a couple of things to check.

The rebuild kit came with a pilot jet so it is brand new and yes I cleaned all the passages really well. I am going to try and find some instructions on how to set up the throttle cable I suspect that is the problem.
Thanks Alot Guys

really dont need instructions as all you need to do is have a little play in the throttle(when you push the thumb lever)so that it will freely move it before it pulls on the cable it self.
