I was wondering if anyone else had trouble installing the front and rear bumpers on their sportsman 800 efi. I bought them off of eBay with what the seller said was the correct fittings, but the 5/16 bolts are simply too big. I went and bought 1/4 bolts and they're too small. I tried forcing the 5/16 and it starting stripping the thread. Called the local dealer and they weren't really willing to help me seeing as I bought it online. Am I friggin missing something here? Plz help!

 

I had the same problem with mine, the bolts that came with it work but you have to really apply pressure to get them started then once you get them going don't overtighten, eventhough there so hard to start they are awful easy to strip out

 

you might cosider metric bolts , all the hardware on these quads its metric.

 

i think there just self tapping bolts but not sure if there metric or not. i agree on the not overtighting as they do strip easy.

 

They are self tapping. If you look at the hole there are no threads

 

thanks guys. that helped out a lot. i finally completed the install. I used the bolts that i had to take off of the machine and used them to start the threads seeing as they were tapered at the point and the ones sent with the kit were standard flat.
