Default Anybody like the Polaris PXTs?

Hey all. I was curious on how people feel about the Polaris PXTs. I have a chance to buy some on the Polaris aluminum rims for about $350. What are your thoughts? I would be going from the ITP 489s that are 25-9-12s on front and 25-11-12s on the rear, to 26s with the same width. I haven't had any troubles with the stock tires. Just wondering if this deal is a good one or not. Thanks for any help.

I've had both, and liked the PXT's better. I did not leave them on for long, but think they had better traction, ride, and 1 more ply maybe? Went through a couple of 489's on front due to sidewall damage. Sounds like a good price.

The PXT's are a great tire for a "stock" type tire. I have run them on my 500HO and have had no problems in mud, dirt or snow. They do seem to be suseptable to picking up thorns from tree's so I would suggest putting some slime in them!

The Polaris pxt, if I,m not mistaken say Carlisle on the side. If so then the tire is actually a Carlisle act that come stock on the Can Am Outlanders. The tires are radials, so they will have a different ride then the 489,s. You can tell the ply rating by the number of stars on the sidewall. Example, 2 star-4 ply, 3 star-6ply rating.

The PXT's provide a smooth ride. Although I have three tires with plugs in the side walls. They tend to lay over and pinch the side walls if you keep less then about 5 1/2 lbs in them. That is a really good deal since it includes the rims. My next set will be Maxxis Big Horns.

they are much better then the stock 489's but where there only 3 ply side walls they do tend to cut easy. i put my stock pxt's from the the 800 on the 450 and was a vast improvement over the 489 bias tire. the pxt are made for polaris by carlisle and are a little differnt tread design then the ones on the outlander but are real close. if the tread isnt all worn off then thats a pretty good deal.

Thanks for all the replys. I've kind of decided to hold off until I really need them. I may talk to the guy and see if he'll go any lower. It seems alot of people think the sidewalls on the PXTs are weak. That would probably be a bad thing with the mix of tree roots, big and small chunks of granite, etc. that we have on our trails. I may end up with ITP XTRs on the stock rims which have taken a ton of abuse and are in good shape. Looks don't really mean as much to me as how it holds up.
