yea i hear ya on the out lay of money and it does suck when they arent as good as they should be. but most of the recrational toys ive seen w/ fuel gages arent that good. you would think w/ todays high tech that it wouldnt be a problem.

same boat here. 2006 500 gauge shows full until almost empty. must be something with the sportsmans. a friends 700 does the same as mine. i keep an eye on my wifes can-am gauge to see when we need gas. hers has the old gauge on the fuel cap. works a lot better, unfortunately.

The dealer said that the whole gas tank needs to be replaced to fix the sensor. It is $500 a pop. Having had to replace 3 already under extended warranty they won't again until they have solved the problem. I think it would be wiser for them to just switch to the old style like you said razmataz.

Same thing with mine. I noticed the last couple rides that it never goes down even when I use up a couple gallons. Maybe next time I'll let it go down further to see if it registers at all.

I just purchased a 2008 500 Ho and the gauge was working fine now it seems like it is always full. I went to the gas staion and put in a gallon and half and it was still on full.Does any body have any suggestions?I have only had it since end of march and already had to have a front diff seal replaced under warranty. Thanks

Hmmm...I don't seem to have any problem with the guages on the Hawkeye or the 400HO...OH yeah, they have a dependable/simple mechanical guages...LOL!

Sorry about that, I just couldn't resist!
Sometimes the simple solution is the best answer! One of the biggest reasons I love the midsize bikes! So much less to go wrong/worry about...
I think Mongrol would agree!

Default Faulty gas tank sensors.

Well just to let you know ....Yesterday I did a fuel guage test!!!!
On my 2006 Sportsman 450......It did not move off the top bar(LCD) until I went 31 miles!!
But once it reaches about 1/2 tank ...it will seem lke it is falling alot faster.....

The top part of the fuel tank must drop alot before the sensor starts to fall!!
so there must be about a little over a gallon used up before the guage (top bar) drops on mine!!
.......Hope that helps......Caper............
