Default 2006 Hawkeye carb help needed

The carb vent tubes are cheap clear plastic, and mine were crimped and smashed from Assembly,Make sure they are free of any obstruction or bends that have crimped them up especially by the tank seat area, there are lots of posts on here of people having that problem.

I had the crimp problem as well... Check the lines on top of the gas tank and follow them to the front of the bike and make sure they're not crimped.

Took the vent lines OFF.

No change.

I bought two new sparky plugs today. The OE one looks so fouled now that it's no good.

Anyway - my first test will be with a new plug. Certainly can't hurt. Then, I'm going to cap off or pinch that enricher line and see what happens.

It just makes no sense to have such a big hole there like that. That hole runs straight up to the enricher plunger. The fuel line inlet is in between the throat and enricher. If the carb needs extra gas, it should be pulling it up and into the throat behind the valve. Not dumping fuel in front of it. No way it'll get atomized that way. It would just be dumping raw fuel into the intake.

Ricky - you SURE you got a big gaping hole like that on your carb? And you can see all the way up to the enricher plunger?

Well. I'm gonna have a few beers and forget about it tonight and deal with it again in the morning. Stay tuned...

Add me to the list of a machine that does not run right after the recall. It runs good up till 3/4 throttle, and it just looses power and slows down. If I let off, it will work good again until I run WOT. I think I will call the dealer back next week and talk to them about it.</end quote></div>

I wonder if Polaris has told their shops to "fix" something besides just the steering?

It's a conspiracy I tell ya!! &lt;BFG&gt;

Seriously - there's no way to tell without pulling the carb and having a looky. Could simply be some crud got in your jets, bowl, or ya got a fouled plug.

You might be right. Part of the problem could be where is sat for a month. I dont ride it very much, I let my dad ride it usually. He never goes more than 15 mph. That could be part of the problem there. I rode it several times before and never had that happen. Oh well, time will tell. My dad can ride it with no problem, so I will stick with my Sportsman. I will check it out more later. I got the 3 year waranty for free, so I have plenty of time.

Well - I'm back square one.

Bought a couple new plugs. Gapped per OM & installed. Pinched the 'upper' fual line and fired the little bugger up.

Idle = good

Let it idle for about 5 minutes to warm up

partial throttle (little to about 1/2) = good

3/4 throttle = starting to stumble

WOT = bog bog bog

release back to about 1/2 and smoothes right out and purrs.

SO - I'm right back to where I was when I started this last weekend.

Down to #1 clip position on the needle and running a 132 Main (smallest I have on hand).

I guess it's back to the parts store for smaller jets and keep going down until I find one that works...

Adendum - Also to anyone who is curious, the spark plug type in the '06 Owner's Manual is WRONG!!

You have to get a NGK CR8EB. Make sure you get the "B" plug or the top of the plug is wrong.

Additionally, the needle ID in my '06 Owner's Manual says 4HB42-5. What I have in the carb now is the '07 needle of 4HC57. I don't know if it was that way from the start and mt dealer/shop thought they were doing me a favor and 'fixing' it or what. It's just all FUBAR now.
