Default predator 500 jetting

well first off id like to say hey im new here but anyways.......my exhaust cam keeps skiping teeth and throwing my engine out of time. i have a feeling it might be my jetting but idk how far the jet should be out. i dont wanna take it to the dealership because there gunna charge me around 50$ to do that. the last time i took it they charged me about 350$
i recently fixed that problem just the other day and did it all myself. i know my jetting is off because my exhaust keeps backfiring and throwing out 3 inch flames. can anyone help me out?

i never had this problem untill i got rid of my pos stock exhaust and got my bill ballance exhaust(witch adds great power btw)

are u sure that ur camchain tensioner is keeping your cam chain tight, because jetting wouldn't make your timing chain jump teeth, i would check and see if your cam chain tensioner is either worn or out of adjustment

Yeah I am doubting that your problem is jetting. Sounds like a bad tensioner. Better get it fixed before your valve gets introduced to your piston.

Search www.predatorowners.com for more preddy info than you will ever need

hmm ill check that out. but the thing is is that i never had this problem with my ctock exhaust system. as soon as i switched it out itwas backfiring. i didnt think much of it since it was band new and had to be broken in. it still backfires more than it should.

If you changed the pipe without rejetting, you were lean. Which causes a lot of heat and possible damage.

Your exhaust timing is NOT out. You are just jetted wrong. And with aftermarket exhaust you will hear more backfiring as it's louder

but the jetting can cause the timing to get knocked out tho right? i have a new chain tensioner from when the dealership fixed the timing last time

I can't imagine jetting causing the chain to jump. Is the chain jumping or is the gear slipping on the cam?

Also is your backfiring on deceleration? If so you may need to adjust the mixture screw or pilot jet.
