My Daughter needs more power
#1
Hey guys,
What can I do for some power out of a 90? I realize that it is just a 90 and I weight in at 200 lbs, but this thing needs some GO.
Any advice other that NOS? Her Outlaw is Pink. Does this have anything to do with it?
Thanks

too bad you didnt get the predator 90, it was a 2 stroke so it was much faster
teach her to shift and put either a kx65 or cr80 or cr85 engine in it or something.... then it would FLY, probably keep up with your raptors in the woods

Stock vs stock the Outlaw 90 4 stroke was actually quicker than the Predator 90 2 stroke. It's top speed was about 3 mph quicker and accelerated a little better. However, after the Hetrick pipe, cdi and clutch kit for the 2 stroke it is not even close.
I have not come across anything either for the 4 stroke Outlaw 90. You can do clutch kits, but without the extra power I do not think you would gain much. However Rath Racing has a section for the Outlaw 90 so I bet some mods are being worked on.

I don't know if it is true or not, but when I bought my daughters pink predator 90 the dealer said there is a limiter built into the throttle that you can adjust and get more power out of it. My daughters is turning over 20 mph per the speedo on my Stealth 800. You might want to check if it has the throttle adjustment like the predator.

There is a screw on the thumb throttle that limits its travel on both the Outlaw and Predator 90. You definately want to screw this screw out so it does not limit the thumb throttle. If your daughters Predator 90 is only hitting 20 MPH it sounds like your thumb screw is still screwed in some.
When stock the Predator 90 went 26 mph and the Oultaw went 28-29 mph by radar gun. After the mods to the Predator 90 it now tops out at 36 mph with my son on it.

Definately should have found a 90 with a 2-stroke, many more choices for increasing power. I guess you could always upgrade to a phoenix.

I rode an 03, 04 and 05 90 up until I was 13, the 05 we bought in 04. By far, THE FASTEST 90 we had was the 03 gray pred. 90. Other than the govener, screw on the thumb throttle, there is a cdi I believe the abbreviation is, also known as a restrictor plate. If you look up the cdi in the owners manual its a little like computer chip that limits the fuel I believe.
Personally, If you are racing in a 90cc class I would,
a.) buy a 2003 pred. 90
b.) if you really want the customized look, buy some pink plastic or attempt to put the plastic from the outlaw on the pred, but I know they are 2 completely different chassis.
c.) if not already done take out the goverenr (throttle screw) and cdi (restrictor plate)
d.) there is a k&n air filter available for the 90 from rockymountain atv, I believe, thats a crap load better than the stock sponge filter Polaris gives you
e.) Hetrick Pipe, cdi, and clutch kit as previously suggested
the 4 stroke there really isnt much you can do with it, and although the Outlaw is suppose to be faster I still beg to differ that stock vs stock side by side the Outlaw may beat the pred 2 stroke off the line but will be overtaken by the pred

just for information; sharing what I know.
CDI does not control fuel, CDI is Capacitor discharge ignition. A preprogrammed module controls ignition curve or ignition mapping, it varies ignition timing based on engine RPM. Some modules are programmable.
CDI control module can limit engine RPM, often called rev limiter.
Your ATV does not have have a governer, but your lawnmower does. the 90 has a throttle limit screw which limits how far the thumb throttle can be pushed.

just what IS a governor? is it a thick washer on one of the clutches in a cvt tranny to keep it from engaging completely? thats what the kawasaki and suzuki 90s have
