Default Water in Clutch housing-ATV barely moves!

hello all!
I washed my Sportsman 400 using a nosel and hose. Since that, it barely moves when in ANY gear. I opened the clutch cover and water (4 oz.) spilled out. The belt was wet. Could this be the only reason for the all of the sudden no movement? Is leaving the cover off and letting the belt dry all I should have to do? Could the clutch be stuck, thus cant collapse on the belt? (belt has < 15 hours on it.)
Thank you for any help.
Hunting season is in 9 days and I need it running like it was before I washed it!

you must have a bad gasket or sprayed water in the clutch vent to have water in it. let it dry w/ the cover off and then carefully while in netrual rev up the engine(watch all your body parts) and watch to see if the clutches are opening and closing right.

Great tips, keep them coming. I am letting it dry tonight. The drain tube is clear. I probably sprayed water directly into the vent. I have driven this ATV in DEEP water and it has never slipped. One hose and nosel wash and slip city!
Keep it coming.
THANKS!!!

the newer ones have a drain in the bottom of the cover so just open that and drain. you can actually just keep reving the engine (while cover on if not alot of water) in netrual to dry the belt as well. its more the silt and belt dust that makes it slip then the water it self. while its apart take some time and clean them. used air to blow all the dust out if you can.

You guys rock!!!! 30 minutes, dried the housing, cleaned all debris and it jumps with the throttle!! keep in mind, the dealer wanted $160 minimum charge to inspect and "fix" the problem. How easy! Thank you for the walk through!!
