Default Update on my Stealth 800

Well, I have had my new stealth 800 since August 5th and I have over 800 miles on her. She has proven to be the workhorse that I had hoped my 07 800 deluxe would be. I kicked the deluxe to the curb on August 5th with only 450 miles on it due to the fact that it was a piece of garbage and had spent over 2 months in the shop with a myriad of problems. I have put the stealth through all the paces and not a single problem to date. I raced my buddies 2006 sportsman deluxe that he bought this year and only has about 650 miles and I can walk him out of the hole all through the mid range and he never catches up to me. My stealth is only a single pipe. I was really worried about having similar problems with the new one but it has all worked out for the good.

Sounds like good news to me. The single pipe like yours is tuned for more torque no doubt, whereas the dual pipe/dual muffler Deluxe setup like mine is more for higher end. If you can take him off the line then he would be hard pressed to catch up to you after that.

Speaking of exhaust, I'm planning on replacing my dual mufflers with a single exhaust like on the Stealth. The duals are too loud for my taste. My thoughts are that I would gain a torque increase and sacrifice some on the top end, which doesn't really pertain to me since I'm not interested in top speed anyway. My main goal in doing this would be to quiet down the engine a bit and smooth out the exhaust note.

Anyone interested dual mufflers? I'll end up putting them on ebay I'm sure.

Glad to hear you got a good one this time. I was laughing/crying/cursing as I read your tale of woe on the other one. Unless ALL atv manufacturers get on the job and get build quality up and their dealers in line, I expect the market to flatten or drop soon. You can buy a better built car or truck for the prices we pay for these machines.

There is no excuse for such **** poor build quality in 2007. If they don't get a handle on it, consumers will revolt, and the machines will sit on the lot. Just like cars and trucks do. Consumers won't tolerate paying the current prices for junk quads they can't count on to last a weekend without breaking down. They will find some other recreational pursuit, their time and money is too precious. And the dealers and manufacturers will deserve whatever happens.

But again, glad you got a good one, I know you are relieved.

Hey Sheepdog, I am an out of the hole guy too. I couldn't care less about top end as I use it so infrequently. When my warranty on this bike is over I am going to switch to the Aaen single pipe and see how that works out. Being aftermarket, I think it will be louder but it gives a decent HP gain. I will probably also clutch it to complete the set up.

Hey Hefty, I appreciate the comments on the reliability. I have boats and they are bullet proof. I have a Harley and it is bullet proof. I have had many sleds and they have always been bullet proof and I have modified the you know what out of them. I talk to a lot of ATV guys and the reliability has certainly not caught up to the price tag. It's pretty sad.
