belt / clutch problems??

Default belt / clutch problems??

i have an 05' 700 sportsman which i have had no complaints about till now . i recently broke the belt and replaced it . since then i have had problems w the belt slipping . it seems to be a water magnet now? prior to replacing the belt i had no problems at all ? any helps or suggestions would be greatly appreciated ! i just hope this isnt going to be an on going problem for me

im not sure but i would thin maybe the seal on the cover is not comming together tight try taking the cover off and putting some gasket seal on it and look make sure all the breathers a tight. thats all i can say i dont know much about sportsmans.

first if u put gasket goop on its gonna be big mess to take off again so dont do that theres a rubber seal in case for that. dont submerge your quad would be 2nd idea. with cover off look below the air duct might be rip in plastichousing from belt breaking causing leak. also scuff the two areas that belt runs in use a file or similar to scuff and dont be afraid scuff the heck out of it it will help in grabbbing belt. way to slippery area for belts. Ive done on all my quad and don't hurt belt.
also make sure u have right belt.

Great advice folks. I had this problem on a 500 sportman. I noticed that when I plowed through standing water, (Very fast), the spray entered through the upper breather port. After I slowed down a bit, the problem went away. As far as the rubber seal, I used to use old fashioned vasiline. It worked great, kept the seal pliant and flexible, and kept water out. At belt change time, the casing was removed without any problems from the casing sticking together . Just my .02 cents. Good luck.
