doesn't matter if its hydraulic or not, its always a good idea to check especially after breakin. things can work loose.

i looked in the manual and it gives some info but no info on how to adjust them.

There is no adjustment possible since there are no adjusting screws on the rockers. As far as I can tell from my service manual you check for bent pushrods and loose or worn valvetrain parts. Sounds like a moneymaker, I bet they wouldn't even pull the valve covers to check anything as long as there weren't any unusual noises.

would my '03 700 have hydraulic lifters also?

I wonder how often certain dealers charge you for work that they never even do. We caught one dealer here in illinois that charged us for a bunch of unneeded work. We went to the owner and raised a little ruckus about it and now we get treated a little better.
