Break-In question on 800 EFI
I was wondering about the service after the initial break in for a new SP X2 800 EFI. I have a friend who has a Suzuki and after his break in the dealer told him the needed to adjust the valves at the 1st service and it cost him $200!! Does Polaris also do this or is it just an oil change and check fluids?? Don't have machine yet, but was planning on doing oil changes myself.

mud, your going to get ripped off. a first service is nothing more then a top off and check of all fluids and a oil change w/ filter is it. the standard charge is $89.00 and up. no valve adjustment done. look in your book and it tells you when its due for one.

That's good to know. I will find out what they exactly are going to do. I remember him telling me they adjust all the cables, replace the air filter and give it an oil change. I already have a k&n filter in there and always lead the group so that doesn't get very dirty or need to be replaced. Usually up in Hurley they are very fair. I'll let you know what happens.

The valve adjustment is the main thing I was talking about. You mention to look in the book, do you mean to find out when the 1st service is due or is there a time when the Polaris needs the valves adjusted?
I guess I am kinda **** when you see kids just out of high school working on my stuff. They don't own one, and some probably just don't care how they treat your pride and joy. I have seen some guys get oil changes on their car and have the filter blow off due to them "forgetting" to tighten it down 1 turn after contact.
Like I said, I don't have the machine yet, and was figuring on just doing the oil at the required interval to get the manufacturing left overs out of the crank case. Is there any mention of valve adjustments in the Polaris line up??

Break-In question on 800 EFI
Yeah, I read the same thing in the manual for my new '07 700EFI. Does my 700 also have hydraulic lifters? I would guess that it does, but not sure. The title on my manual says that it is for 700EFI and 800EFI. I wonder why it says to inspect/adjust valves after 100 hrs if the lifters are hydraulic???
