Stealth 800 vs Grizz 700
#1
I picked up the Grizz 700 on Thursday and was only able to give it a 40 mile test drive cuz I was in a musky fishing tournament. I wasn't able to really put her thru the paces as I like to break my bikes in slowly.
First impression - Really nice fit and finish, comfortable seat and power steering is really slick. Bike feels significantly smaller than my Stealth 800 and does not have the nice cushy ride of the Polaris. Suspension felt stiff even though it was set on a soft setting.
I really thought the Grizz was going to be a better package than my Stealth 800 so I am a little disappointed in it and pleased with my Popo. The Grizz feels so much lighter and feels almost as small as my sons wolvy 450. I ran her thru some nice tight twisties and the handling was excellent. My biggest complaint is with the ride and how stiff it is. My Stealth is akin to driving my sofa around on the trails and handles very confidently. All of my other bikes have aftermarket tires which I think will soften the ride when I add them to the Grizz. I have already decided on the 12" rims over the 14" so I get a little more shock absorption in the package. I didn't really get on the throttle, but the little I did showed good acceleration and it sounded good for a single jug engine.
I will update this post when I ride it again in two weeks or so. I look forward to giving it a good 100 plus mile day when the breakin is over and the aftermarket tires are on. If anyone else has compared these two bikes, I would love to hear if their experiences are similar to mine.

The perfect quad would be a Sportsman with power steering. Nice ride (I have a bad back), great storage, great AWD system, good clearance, good looking, etc. Power steering would make it about perfect.

I would agree with you there. Honda has a bike out with the power steering. I am sure that Polaris will follow suit in their 2009 line up. Gee, then I don't have to buy a new bike for a whole year. How nice.

I was up riding in NH about a month ago and a guy we met and rode with had a Grizzly with the power steering. I had remembered meeting him the year before on a Polaris Sportsman 800. It turns out he was down in West Virginia at Hatfield McCoy and was going up a steep mountain and bailed when it tipped backwards on him. The Sportsman end-over-ended down the whole hill. He had insurance and got the Grizzly. He offered me a chance to try it out. I told him, "Bob, 2 reasons I can't do that. Your track record of destroying quads (I do like mine in one piece), and if I liked the power steering I would have to go buy one...

Hi,
Does anyone have any more feedback on these two quads? The dealer didn't call it a stealth..... but I was looking at an '07, limited edition, black, nice tires and wheels, winch, bumper Polaris last night. Also looking at the '08 Grizz, but they have to put one together (hopefully today for a test ride).
I realize this is the Polaris forum, I'll post something under the Utility forum, too. I'll be buying today or tomorrow, as soon as I get more feedback, especially on the Sportsman, which I can't find very much specific to the 800.
Thanks
