How to Adjust drive belt?

Default How to Adjust drive belt?

I have a 2000 Polaris sportsman 335 and I would like to know if and how to adjust the drive belt. Can anyone help me here ?

there is no adjustment to speak of. you may shim or remove shims in the secondary and align the engine and thats about it. what is it doing to make you want to try to adjust it?

It just seems that I have to give it more gas to get going. To me it seems like the belt is a bit lose. I figured with some adjustment I would get a better reponse when I hit the throtle.

Default How to Adjust drive belt?

Have you tried a new belt? The difference between a old or cheap belt is night and day compared to a new quality belt, hook up is much better. Could be your clutch is hanging up? Pull the clutch cover and watch what's happening when you apply throttle, is the clutch engaging smoothly? First thing I did when I picked up my 98, new factory clutch kit and belt, big difference.

I agree get new beltand measure em u will see diff. might wanna scuff surface where belt is grabbed it helps with slippage
