Default Anyone take apart a failed halleffect?

Speedo failure due to hallefffect sensor is very common with Sportsman, just wondering why . . .

Just replaced mine and the old one does not work so I was thinking about destroying it to see why it failed, if it will tell me :-o

All you will find is a spool of very fine wire wrapped around an iron core. When the sensor passes over the openings and back over the steel it induces a voltage thru the windings. Hence alternating current (AC). It's the same as the speed sensors in your car or truck

From what I have seen the gap is usually too big and they won't pick up.
