Default 800 X2 1st oil change

I have a 2007 800 X2 that I bought from Abernathy's. The salesman told me that he would only use Polaris engine oil as he has seen allot of cam failures due to using other oils. The owners manual say's any 0W synthetic oil is fine. So, what oil do you use? I do not have a local dealer to go to, and I was also wondering if anybody has cross reference numbers for Super Tech and Napa filters?

Any synthetic of the proper viscosity and API service rating would work fine. Car oil will work fine, as your engine doesn't have a wet clutch.

Amsoil makes a 0w-40 ATV oil.

I use the same as jampg on my 06 500 X-2. Just remember to get the Purolator Pure One PL14610 oil filter, Not the p14610. Your oil filter is on the side, not the bottom. It needs the check valve.. You can get it all ad Advanced Auto,, You can get the oil for the transmission there also, I use 90 wt synthetic. Now, for the front gearcase oil, I would only use the Polaris Hilliard oil. And be carefull how much you put in, Just what the book calls for..

Default 800 X2 1st oil change

I use Mobil 1 oil, and their filter # M1-110, which is expensive-$9 or so for filter. Have read where the purolator pure one is best, with mobil 1 close, and actually wal mart's syn tech or super tech is close to Mobil's. Was in wal mart this mrng and checked their manual, and they stocked the syn tech one for the 06 800, but can't remember part#. Was about $2.52 I think.

Jampg & hobbles-I couldn't get purolator to give me a pn for the pure one, how long have you been using this one? Cross reference? Was told they don't make one for Polaris 800. That's what I'd prefer to use. Thanks in advance.

Here are a few oil filters for the 800.

Fram (cheapo Orange) = PH7317
Fram Tough Gaurd (Gray) = TG7317
Walmart Supertech uses 7317 in its P/N
K&N = HP1010
Mobil 1 = M1110
Purolator = L14610
Purolator Pure One = PL14610
AC Delco = PF2057
Bosch = 3323
Pennzoil (same as Fram orange) = PZ109

1st option) "Get the supertec 7317 filter at walmart it has a high rating and it's made by "Champion labs" same company that make's all the good oil filters."

Thanks for info guys. Called Purlator with that #, they told me not tested on an ATV, therefore they could not recommend that or any other for 800. ?? Sure there are more than a few running this filter on ATV's. Think I'll try it or Wal Mart's next.
