Default Scrambler 400 and secondary help

Hi all: I have a scrambler 400 yr 1999 that I'm trying into a polaris hybred. Using a polaris 440 yr2005 motor in it.
I was told to open the driven clucth out all the way. Not sure what this realy means can it become wider from the spring
settings. 1-1 or 2-2 ect, not sure any help would be greatfull. No shims maybe ???
Thanks

Default Scrambler 400 and secondary help

im not sure what they mean either as the changing the spring setting just changes the spring pressure and has nothing to do w/ clutch width while its closed and shimming between the sheeves will opened it a little to allow the belt to drop down some. why would want that is beyond me??

Thanks stendori:

My take on it might be that you need to open up the driven side to get the belt from the wider snowmachine primary side.
And use the snowmachine drive belt, anyone help, thoughts???
