I used to ride with just those really old motorcycle helments and bike helments until my brother gave me his because he didn't need it(he barely ever wore it and his banshee was stolen). i'm not sure what brand it is but it's tough. it has been through atleast ten wrecks since i got it in 02. it's all scratched up, and there are a couple blood stains on the outside, they won't come off and i don't know how they got there. all thats wrong with is that one of the vents came out, the latch to hold the visor down, and the leather on the bottom of the back of it is cracked. if you notice that some of my sentences are capitalized and stuff and the rest aren't it's because i just don't want to take the time to fix them.</end quote></div>

Man I think it is time for a new helmet!!

They (the labs) say that after a helmet gets one blow or impact the helmet needs to be replaced........I guess you should have had at least 10 by now!!....LOL.....Caper.......</end quote></div>

yeah i'm going to get one in the next month or two. my quads are old and i quit taking it easy on them so there are a lot of accidents. you'll see when i get my pics page fixed or when i find out how to put a video on here.

also it's better than nothing, the other day my neighbors were going up our trail to go squirl hunting, they have a honda 300 2wd and a beartracker 2wd. their dad, son and sister went on one atv while their other son went with his wife and sister on their other one. that's three on each, and the first part of the trail is the steepest (it's so steep that my honda 4X4 would have the front tires off the ground if i didn't put all my weight on the front rack) they tried to go up it with all three on each and the first one got most of the way and it started to flip but the driver got ahold of a tree limb and stopped it from rolling then he coasted back down and tried it without the other two and dug some pretty big ruts. they did the same with the other , and when they come back off they all get off and walk beside it using the handbrakes. i went up it and had all four tires spinning un mine, and coming back off i couldn't get stopped that was fun. (i couldn't stop because i don't have any brakes) my neighbors are pretty darn lucky with their quads, they start them up when it's snowing and give it full throttle for about ten minutes to warm it up and it doesn't seem to hurt theirs, but they don't feel like they have very much power.(they don't know much about them, it took them four hours to hook a battery up, litterally i tried telling them how, but oh well.) if it seems like i'm writing a lot more it's because i don't feel like fixing the phone for my girl.

im lou and im a addict. i got a 97 honda 300ex that in doing a 350x conversion that on a test i crashed landed no the back of my head got knocked unconscious and got a concussion. i need a helmet with more pads in the back i have two and they have almost none their. my dad got a 01 polaris magnum 325 4x4 i talk him in to it. i mashed his quad more then mine but i take it easy on his first i put it on it side from getting out a lake breaking the rack and left head light, hit my friends car getting it out the yard, and last winter in the lake i tip it on it was frozen over and wondered if i could drove on it half way thorough the ice cracked and the quad went down. luckily the water was just a few inches from getting in the air box she stayed running. i was stuck for about 20 min before we got someone to help pull it out we had a chunk of ice the was almost 2 inches thick in between the engine and frame.i told my friends both these stories over 100 times. lucky for me i have job repairing quads dirtbikes and more my favorite part is test riding the bikes. i just a great feeling to have a job thats fun and feels more like a hobby then work. from 12-8 pm i dont eat all i do is focus on the bikes. some times i make excuses to go ride again. my most used excuse is its making a weird sound sound ill take it out to see what it is or im tuning the carb. i want to get a banshee but my dad wants me to sell my 300 before i can get another one. anyone know of a way around this.

i may of flipped about ten times, but the scariest ride that i've had on one was last year. it was the first day of gun season and i went hunting with one of my friends, and the first path is pretty steep and i got up it, but my friend couldn't because his 350 bigbear4X4 was missing the front driveshaft causing it to hold back. so i backed down the hill so he could hook onto mine and i could pull him up(neither of the handbrakes worked at the time) when i pushed the brake i thought i felt it stretch but didn't look. we couldn't get his up so i gave him a ride, dropped him off, and kept on going. well i was in a field and found a REALLY steep hill, and my dumbass decided to try it. while it was snowing and the weeds were taller than my quad. i put her in second gave it full throttle with almost bald tires. i as doing good until about half way up when there was a bump, it slowed me down a lot. i got within two feet of the top and it spun out, and when i pushed the brake the cable snapped. i hit the kill switch and flew off he hill backwards! i was going at least 40mph by halfway down ,according to my friend who was watching from the bottom of the field,. when i hit that bump the quad shot out into the air and all i was thinking was ohhhhh sh****************************************t. it hild the hill again and i was able to coast back down without crapping myself. after that i had to come back off the first hill later, even though it wasn't as steep, i had to use the engine brake with my 190lb. friend on the back me driving and a six-point on the front racks. after that i fixed all the brakes and i check them every time i ride there.

I agree with CAPER! Go get that new helmet dude, he is RIGHT,
once you have a good blow, it loses its integrity. Denniskirk.com
has great deals from like $49 and upward. Know your head size
(I use XXL), get a MX with Face guard for full face protection.
You can read up on all the SPECS and really good selection of
colors and styles, should get one DOT/SNELL rated.
You won't go wrong there!

On the topic of helmets, AFX makes a nice line under $100; I have an AFX FX 35 which seems very well made. For more on this see the thread Helmet Help which some of you might enjoy browsing, and perhaps post your own thoughts on helmets there.
