Okay here is a reply to back US up to our addictions. I just spent $370 plus dollars last
night at LOWES Home/Garden center. Yea, I discovered I really need a tool box for the
bed of my truck to store all my tie down straps, tools, helemets, gear. Outside work lights
1000 watt on a stand, extra power tools. I have ran into needs for more tools, so I got a
bunch of odds and ends there too, power drill, longer socket extensions, metric and torx
bit screwdrivers and all supplies for my ATV needs!

I have had it bad for years! it all started with a Toyota 4x4 truck, then it was a K5 Blazer, then 3 Jeeps, only kept one though. now I'm on my second ATV. if I'm not taken the atv out it's the jeep! I love to be out on the trails! I have atv and jeep magazines all over the house. pictures of the atv and the jeep hang on the walls of my home. I drive my jeep daily and my head turns at every dirt road and trail I see! I wave at other jeepers and when ever a truck goes by hualing quads I'm eyeing those to see what they got. I try to plan a ride every week end! I'm on several jeep forums and now I'm starting on atv forums, oh my gosh, somebody help me!!!!! lol

BruteForceButton, that's exactly my addiction too. I actually used to take my first cars out in the woods. Had two Dodge Darts, one Plymouth Duster, and one Datsun (Nissan) station wagon. It was amazing what these cars had for ground clearance. (More than a lot of so-called 4x4s have now) I had my share of stucks with the cars including a time I was going down a dirt road in March and floorboarded it in soupy mud. It was in a grass field and the grass was firm. There were some old sheets of plywood laying around so I turned the wheels into the grass and jacked up the rear and put the plywood under the tires. All they did was spin on the plywood. So, having no one to help me I left it in 1st gear (automatic) and left the driver door open and pushed from behind. You guessed it the car took off across the field at about 5mph. I didn't catch up to it until it mowed down a bunch of trees that were about 4 feet tall. So, I knew I needed a 4x4. When I got out of school and got a full time job, I bought a 85 Nissan 4x4. 4 cylinder, standard, pretty sparce. I learned later that the only difference between a 4 and 2 wheel drive is how much further in the woods you get stuck. I had to walk out 4 miles one time. Oh well. Got a Toyota 4 Runner, then an Isuzu Trooper (all very reliable) and because of growing kids and work needs got a Ford Super Duty F350. It blew 2 heater cores per winter and after getting it fixed about the 5th time traded it in (I drove it for 8 months. I think it was fine after that, but I didn't trust it anymore). Last and recent truck is a GMC 2500HD Crew Cab 4x4. It's had its share of problems too. Waiting for Nissan or Toyota to come out with a true work truck with at least a 6'6" bed. Anyhow, back to topic. I decided that if I was going to go offroad that I should get something dedicated to offroad. QUADS! I relearned the 2 or 4wd lessons again and got to where we have two 4x4 quads now. It's amazing what they go through. And, like all of you, I see trails off of highways and power lines and think, "That looks like a nice trail". I can't wait until it's cold enough to do ice runs!

time to feed the fire again.i wish it would rain some now it's rain all week. under a flood watch and we're still down 20" for the year go figure.went riding today and broke the 2 golden rules and paid for it.i went by myself and didn't bring a strap, come along or nothing.you guessed it. the same mud hole i've been through a million times in all weather. I'M STUCK. 1.5hr walk to the house get rachet strap 1.5hr walk back 10mins to get un stuck.i want a new 525 outlaw after today looking at a 800 sportsman and a winch. you forget important things like that when you have'nt rode in a couple of weeks.

I was more than happy to get a winch when I got my quad. I relearned the important lesson of not having metal on your hands when I hit the positive terminal on the battery and the engine block at the same time. I nearly welded my wedding ring to the block. I lost a 3/4" by 1/8" chunk of skin to that burn. But, for the cause, it was worth it. I've used the winch about 6-7 times to pull out other quads.
