Warranty,

I would like to hear from those of you that have purchased the Polaristar Protection Plus warranty. I have had several 4-wheelers but have always just felt I would fix what ever went wrong (so far, so good). Well now I have a new “HO” and of course there is more to go wrong then on my 2-stroke Scrambler.

I would like to hear any good or bad people have experienced with this program.

Same question from me. I've got a 2000 Scrambler 400 4x4, that's about to run out of the 6 month warranty. I've heard a lot of stories about Scrambler chains, and thus gear boxes breaking...

Is the $400 for the extended warranty worth it??

I own a 99 Magnumm 500 and have the 4 year polaristar warranty. It is worth it! Mine has paid for itself already. The EBS clutches still need a few bugs worked out and you can expect to have the secondary clutch rebuilt or in my case replaced after about 1500 miles. U-joints also wear out quite often on the Sportsmans($40 each plus labor). I have been very satisfied with the warranty. They fix the problems, no questions asked.

I went with the 36 month. I figured 3 yrs was plenty, and Id likely trade it off by then.

I never got an extended warranty offered to me, but would have taken it. I think I have spent in excess of 3000 Cdn (2000 US) since warranty ran out. Next new machine is gonna get beat for that 6 month warranty period, and then I'll know its ready for me.

With only one day left on my manufactures 6 month warrenty,I bought the 36 month Polaristar warrenty for 445 dollars, its worth every penny.

A few wks ago,I was plowing very heavy and deep snow and broke my left front yoke that attached to my front gear box,I bent the CV shaft to.I also claimed a few loose tie rods. The bill come to allmost 500 dollars,my deductable was 25 dollars. It has allready paid for itself!

There is really not a whole lot that goes wrong with 2wd ATVs,so I dont have the extended warrenty on my Recon, however, there is ALOT of expensive things that can go wrong on ANY 4x4 ATV,thats why I bought the extended warrenty for.

Now make darn sure that the place you have your ATV repaired at is on your side in the event the quad needs repair. It does no good to have a mechanic that blames you [the customer]for the problems that occur when your ATV has a break down, because you will pay for repairs with or without the extended warrenty.

Food for thought?
The extended warrenty is only as good as the mechanic wants it to be,

If you have a good mechanic, then I recomend the warranty. I used too own a Sportsman500, and when it was running, I wouldn't have traded it for anything in the world. I ended up having several problems with it, and after awhile, decided to trade it. If I had the option of the warranty...I probably would still own it. In my situation, it would have paid for itself easily. Good luck and enjoy.....

I dont know how you let your dealerships rip you off in the prices. I bought the 5 year extended through my dealer for $350 for the Polaris Star warranty. Also the 500 H.O. are selling here for $6000 even w/o tax.

Was that $350 for 5 years? And was that on a Sportsman? And what was the Dealers name? You did say it was the "Polaristar"?
