Default Engine bog with the lights on

When my 99 explorer 300 4x4 is running it bogges real bad, like the engine isn't getting enough electicity when i turn the lights on.It boggs even more when on high beam. It dosen't matter if it is in gear or not. It runs great with the lights off. I don't know where to start looking or what the problem might be. Can anyone Help?

first thing is to get a tester to see how much voltage its putting out w/ it running. can you start it w/ the elec. start, or do you have to use recoil? if you put a charger on the battery and it runs fine w/ no bogging then its that. try that and get back to us.

Default Engine bog with the lights on

I went home after work today and tried what you and also a local polaris dealer said. I first checked the battery voltage and it was 12.8 volts. It started fine with the electric start. Someone told me it might be the stator if it wasn't putting out enough volts. So i took out all of the light bulbs so it wouldn't be using power for the lights (it did the same thing). I then took off the front plastic plateand the plastic that holds the ignition switch and the choke to expose the wiring harness and junction plate with all of the terminals. I started to disconnect the wires that go to the light switch one at a time, trying it in betweeneach. I didn't change! I disassembled the ignition switch it also looked fine. But while i was putting it back together i noticed a Brown colored wire that was broken off of a terminal on the reverse indicator light on the bars. I didn' think much of it, but i repaired it anyway while i had it apart. I tried reving it up with the lights on and couldn't beleive it. NO MORE BOG!!! I was going crazy trying to figure it out and was lucky to spot that broken wire. If anyone can tell me why that broken connection could cause my machine to bog with the lights on , PLEASE TELL ME WHY!! Thanks for the suggestions.

the only thing i could guess its a ground of some sort or a power interuper that goes to the rev limiter that kicks in like in reverse and where it was unhooked it acted like the override was on. just a guess though.

The reverse override wire is a brown wire....... I would say it would cause a problem
