engine down in 2 months flat!!

I recently bought my stepson a trailblazer from dealer. It was a 2005 model, but never titled (NEW). I purchased the machine and took it to stepson's house and dropped it off and got all the thank yous a man can stand. Fast forward 2 months--
He calls to say it won't crank! I asked if he had cleaned his air filter, and the dreaded reply was....."Where is it?" After some serious counseling, he looked and there was no air filter!! They sold it to me without one!!! The jug was trashed and is currently at a machine shop being bored .010 at dealer's cost. Has anyone ever experienced anything like that from their dealer?? I don't know if I want the bike back. The mud and water could have damaged things alot farther south than the cylinder!!

was the air box dirty from the mud or water? if so you the bearing must have taken hell as well. on my 06' i had the air box cover gasket was never put in right so it let crap in the air box but i how would i prove it.

Yes the airbox was covered in mud and dirt on the inside, and with no air filter, it went straight in the cylinder! They are boring the cylinder and putting in a new piston, but Im worried about the business down in the case. It may run fine for another month and then the bearings go down and they won't help then I bet.
