Tires for Hawkeye
#1
Hey guys can someone help me here? My son has a Hawkeye 4x4 and I was wondering how big of tires you could put on it and how much will it hurt the power. Does any one have a suggestion on what tire will work on his Hawkeye?

One thing to keep in mind, If you go bigger than 23" tires and something breaks, AND Polaris finds out they will NOT cover it under warranty.
That's why I'd like to know what Polaris did to be able to mount 24" tires on the '08 Hawkeye/Sportsman and be willing cover any warranty issues.

I think it's the fact that THEY did it as opposed to the consumer doing it. LOL!! I'd go with 23". The 24" Swamp Fox's I had on mine sapped a lot of power it seemed.</end quote></div>
You might be right, but adding 155cc's they HAD to have beefed something up, and I'd like to know what, and if it could be retrofitted to the '06 & '07 Hawkeye.
Same "problem" I'm having with my Jeep. 3.55 gears were fine with 28" tires, but it took the "snap" out of it when I mounted up a set of 31" tires. Maybe I'm on to something...hummmm... wonder if they changed the gearing but used the same transmission? Interesting thought.

i put 25 " mudlite's on my 06' i lost about 9 mph but the bike still pull's though the mud real well . iv'e had them on now for about 300 miles' no problem's yet and by the way they are the deep lug mudlite's

i bet if you go online and get a wheel size/speed converter that you will see that you didn't lose that much.I was going 42mph today and that's just under 48 mph when you do the conversion

The rear suspention is beefier (A frames), the subframe is heavier on the 08 Sportsman. Thats the only difference that I have found sofar. Oh, the extra weight on the Sportsman front end (water cooled vs air cooled) is quite a bit more so the mounting brackets a probably heavier. I'll have to look.

so you guys with the mudlite xl's don't have any real problem with them rubbing?? im also assuming that you had to crank the front and rear suspension to the max... just wondering how that made the ride?? i already have my front as far as they will go because it felt like it wanted to "nose dive" when hitting bumps going down hills just wondering how much stiffer it made the rear end... im stuck between the new 25" maxxis zillas and the mudlite xl's...
