Reeds, pipes, powerbands, etc. etc.
Here goes,
I have had many two stroke dirtbikes and 3-wheelers. This is the first automatic quad I have, let alone 2 stroke automatic. I have a few questions about it though. The bike is a 95 Trailboss 300, another I have a line on is a 98 or 99 sport 400.
1. The reeds. I've never changed these on my other bikes, because I never wanted more power, they always had enough. How do reeds add power?
2. Pipes. All my other two strokes have the large expansion chamber with the packed silencer. The Trailboss 300 has a different (unknown) pipe on it, almost looks like a car glasspack, but it sounds low and nasty like a 4 stroke. Not like a two stroke at all. Do these aftermarket pipe kits have different shape to them, and is the actual muffler that important on these bikes? NOISE is not a issue where I ride, the louder the better. I like the way the 300 sounds-unlike any 2 stroke I've ever been around.
3. Powerband. Doesn't seem to be one on the 300 or 400. Is this becuase of the clutch? All others have been like a lightswitch, this is smooth and easy.
4. Is ignition on a Polaris is a great upgrade, or more of a supporting mod?
Thanks,
Mike

The 400 is the only one that has reeds, The after market pipes are shaped better larger chambers. The clutching makes a big differnce. The 400 has alot more mods out for it then the 300 dose you can get all the way up too 90hp at crank on 400 maybe 40 on the 300.
