Default Need some help on a plow lift or winch

I just found this forum and I'm hoping you can help me out.

I have a 94 Polaris 400L with a snow plow. It currently has the manual lift handle on the side but I'd like to replace this with an electric lift or winch. The problem is because this atv is so old, nobody seems to list it as a compatible model or year.

I've been searching Ebay but I cant find anything that says it will fit this old dog. I've seen come cheap lift actuators on Ebay but I have no idea if it will work on my machine.

Can you guys point me in the right direction?

I just bought an Xtreme winch and mount plate off ebay for $117 total. It says it fits my specific model. We'll see in a week or so.

just remember that when using your winch for plowing that it is hard on the battery on your bike because its not designed to like a regual alternator and it really only maintains a battery. so you use it alot but dont go very far or long w/ the bike so it might kill the battery. wouldnt hurt to keep throwing a battery charger/tender on it to help when not using it. just an idear.

Thanks for the tip. I only plow my driveway so I never go far from the garage but a battery tender may be in order just to be sure.

Will a winch pick up a plow fast enough or does it wind real slow? I'm wondering if I'm going to constantly be waiting for the winch to raise and lower the plow as I go along?

yes hes right, but your not remembering that you'll probably go up and down(power both ways) most likely 20 or more times in a short period of time. it'll probably be fine for ya.

All I know is the last snow of the year was real wet and my left arm was sore as hell after plowing my driveway and some of the neighbors. I thought plowing with an atv was supposed to be fun, not a strenuous arm workout. I'm hoping the winch takes care of that minor problem.
