Can I use GM Dex-Cool ?

Don't use Dex! I used to be a professional auto mechanic and dex creates more problems than it prevents. It actually corrodes aluminum...I have seen it too many times. You can't go wrong with the green stuff. I have converted many a GM vehicle (usually after replacing the rotten intake gaskets) and Dex is just bad news. Most of the cars I have seen with gasket failures also had a moderate amount of corrosion that contributed to the failure. I once built an engine for a street rod which was used with dex...guess what, the intake gaskets started leaking. Upon teardown, the aluminum heads and intake had the corrosion of a 20+ year old car. All after just about 3 years. I know people are gonna flame me for this post, but I don't care. I know what I and thousands of others have seen, and seeing is believing. GM isn't about to do an about face and admit their problem...admitting failure is embarassing AND costly. Don't believe the hype...Dex is bad; do yourself a favor and don't use it. YMMV

^^^ Exactly why I swapped it out. I heard too many stories like this from credible people, many local, that are in the industry. Plus, there's not a lot of benefit to staying with Dexcool either.
